Beth Ann Locke

For more than 25 years, Beth Ann has had the honour of working with donors to help them realize their dreams of a better world through philanthropy. Originally from Seattle, she spent the first ten years of her career working in healthcare fundraising in the US and Canada. Since then, she has worked in the human services, arts, and higher education sectors. Wherever she finds herself, Beth Ann enjoys the opportunity to work with peers and stakeholders to introduce them to the joy of fundraising.

Beth Ann is an active member in her profession and relishes challenging the status quo. She has been a long-time champion of equity and respect in the nonprofit workplace. She co-founded Ms.Rupt, a discussion group for women in fundraising to provoke conversation about the challenges we face. She shone a light on harassment and bullying within the fundraising sector with her own survey and published story, before the #metoo movement exploded across North America. Beth Ann deeply believes that with awareness comes action and empowerment and that we can all become agents of change when we embrace the power of our personal stories.

Beth Ann is Chief Development Officer at BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre Foundation. She is also President-Elect of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Vancouver Chapter and enjoys welcoming new people to the profession by mentoring fundraisers and speaking about fundraising at conferences.

Beth Ann received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington and happiest when hosting dinner parties, travelling, and collaborating with fundraising peers around the globe. She is also the mother of a remarkable daughter who is already changing the world.
