Brian Bowman
Brian is an alumnus of the University of Alberta (B.Comm. 1987) and has enjoyed a successful career as a fundraising professional in the performing arts, social services (United Way of Calgary & Area), health care (Calgary Health Trust) and post‐secondary sectors for more than two decades. After leading two $50 million United Way campaigns in Calgary, he joined SAIT Polytechnic to lead Alumni and Development in 2008. In 2011, his team was awarded the Association of Fundraising Professionals International’s highest honour – “The Campbell and Company Award for Excellence in Fundraising – Large Institution” for their work on the Promising Futures campaign in support of a $440 million capital project. His group was also awarded the “Sun Life Team Award” by SAIT in 2012 in recognition of their innovative and exemplary work.
Brian, a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), is actively involved in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and currently chairs the District VIII Board. An accomplished musician, he is founder and artistic director of ARC, an adult recreational choral organization with more than 250 singers. His passion for the performing arts has served him well in his fundraising career as he brings creativity, a fresh perspective and, sometimes, even a bit of music to his work.
