Laura Edwards
Laura Edwards is Executive Director Advancement, responsible for fundraising and community building at York House School. During Laura’s 20 year tenure, the culture of giving at York House has grown from modest beginnings to a thriving annual fund, capital for new facilities, as well as a growing endowment. Laura’s background is in business and volunteer work. She has been Marketing Director for Four Seasons Hotels, and ran her own investment and insurance business, receiving awards and recognition for her achievements.
Of particular interest is Laura’s commitment to and success in Chinese philanthropy, both local and overseas. Realizing 17 years ago, the importance of China in her work, she has gained a strong understanding and love of the country and people. What began as a learning mission has become a thriving, vital component of the fundraising work Laura delivers, she has visited countless cities and rural areas of China, during 35 visits and counting.
Laura was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal in recognition for work in the volunteer sector in 2004, then The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal also for volunteerism, in 2012.
Laura has sat on many boards and committees including the Association of Fundraising Professionals from which she was awarded the Outstanding Professional Fundraiser November 2015.
