Scott Decksheimer

Scott Decksheimer’s career in the nonprofit sector has primarily supported organizations in transition and utilizing his skills in team development, major gifts, board governance, and capital campaigns.

After successfully managing his own consulting firm, Scott co-founded ViTreo Group Inc. to better serve his clients. As a consultant, Scott has worked with high profile and emerging clients. He has consulted and worked on fundraising campaigns totalling over $400 million with the National Music Centre, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Decidedly Jazz Danceworks, Wood’s Homes Foundation, and other non-profit organizations in western Canada and the prairies. His organizational development clients have included Food Banks Canada, Streets Alive Mission and Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.  Scott loves a complex challenge and helps to deliver clear direction when needed most.

Before moving to consulting, Scott was the Director of Fund Development at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary for four years. At SAIT, he worked with his team to complete an $80 million campaign which at the time was the largest fundraising campaign in southern Alberta history. That campaign surpassed its goal in the 44th month of a 60-month campaign.

In 2017, Scott was appointed to be the inaugural chair of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Canada, a new organization dedicated to growing and supporting the profession in Canada. He remains active at the local and international levels of AFP as well.  He currently serves as a Board Member and Executive Committee member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (International). Scott was honoured by the AFP Calgary & Area Chapter as the 2013 Outstanding Fundraising Professional in recognition of his career in fundraising and support of the profession. Scott was the founding President of the Saskatoon Chapter of AFP and was actively involved in the formation of the original AFP Canadian Council in 2000.

Scott is the first Canadian to represent Canada at the international fundraising summit. He presents on a variety of topics including leadership, philanthropic literacy and culture, and campaigns. He remains committed to helping ensure fundraising professionals receive professional development.

Scott has a public administration degree from the University of Saskatchewan.
