Tanya Hannah Rumble
Tanya Hannah Rumble, CFRE, MFA-P™ is a fundraising leader who has raised millions for some of Canada's largest charities including Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society and now McMaster University. She is passionate about strategic philanthropy: the democratization of philanthropy - both making the sector more inclusive, diverse and equitable; and making planned and major giving itself more accessible. Tanya's approach to her work in the fundraising sector is greatly influenced by her lived experience as a mixed-race women in an interracial partnership who is a third culture kid - first-generation Canadian daughter of Jamaican and English-Irish immigrants who spent her formative years in the United Arab Emirates; she has a global outlook and holds three citizenships and her passports hold stamps from more than 50 nations.
She graduated with an H.B.A., Political Science from McMaster University, earned a Masters Certificate at NYU in Marketing Communications and has completed numerous professional certificates including Not-For-Profit Governance Essentials (Rotman School of Management, Institute of Corporate Directors) and Truth and Reconciliation Through Right Relations (Banff Centre). Additionally, she is an active leadership volunteer in the philanthropy and non-profit sector: she is an Executive Member of the CAGP Golden Horseshoe Chapter; Board Director and Chair of the HR Committee with FindHelp Information Services - operators of 211 Toronto, leadership volunteer with AFP Toronto Chapter and the AFP Canada Foundation.
As a racialized philanthropy professional Tanya is honoured to share her influence and insights with students, emerging professionals and peers in the sector - she regularly authors articles on the topic of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) and fundraising, as well as other topics in industry publications including AFP Advancing Philanthropy and Hilborn Charity eNews. She speaks to professional audiences and at learning events like AFP Congress, webinars and podcasts regularly.
In addition to sharing her knowledge, she is committed to lifelong learning - she is a graduate of the 2017 Association of Fundraising Professionals Inclusion and Philanthropy Fellowship, and 2010 DiverseCity Fellowship, has been a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) since 2017 and most recently completed her Master Financial Advisor - Philanthropy (MFA-P™) in April 2020, as well as was approved to take the certification exam for the Communication Management Professional (CMP) designation through International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
She is a professional member of AFP, CAGP, CCAE and CASE and a citizen of Canada and the EU.
