- Hospital Name Change Nets Multimillion-dollar Donation People really do give to brand. All Children's Hospital, based out of St. Petersburg Florida, officially added "Johns Hopkins" to its name in April to outwardly align itself with the organization it had been medically affiliated with since 2011. - Yes, Your Nonprofit Can Capitalize on Pokémon GO Yes, you are reading this correctly. Pokemon GO, the newest game craze sweeping the world, may actually have a charitable use. Using "Gyms" and "Pokéstops" which are places where players can interact, pick up items or enhance their characters, Pokémon GO is becoming a tool for museums, art galleries, aquariums, etc. to become attractions as part of this new game sensation. - ACLU Sends Hancock Scathing Letter on Misuse of Donations for Homeless Sweeps This is despicable. The City of Denver used donation funds to "sweep" the streets clear of the homeless. Assholes. (7/11/16)
- Vancouver-based charity affiliated with Clinton Foundation defends high overhead costs The Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership (Canada), a registered charity based in Vancouver, B.C., devoted $737,441 (78% of its expenditures) to overhead costs in 2014. - Billionaire trader and his wife donate $100 million to Australian National University in the largest single act of philanthropy to education ever seen in Australia *Wow! Australian higher ed has just entered the $100 million club. The gift from Graham and Louise Tuckwell will fund the construction of two new halls of residence at the university in Canberra to accommodate 800 students. (7/13/16)

- University of Oregon's Volcanology Department Gets $10 Million Donation Yes, this is to support the study of volcanoes. Oregon’s Board of Trustees Chair Chuck Lillis and his wife, Gwen have made this gift to the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Oregon. - Lions Gate Hospital receives $1M donation for new MRI machine North Vancouver has a new MRI thanks to a gift from a gift from development company Hollyburn Properties. CANADIAN STORY (7/12/16)
- $1.6 million donation will help Kansas City (Mo.) district launch charter school The Kansas City Neighborhood Academy will get $1 million from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and $600,000 gift from the Hall Family Foundation. (7/12/16)
- Apple Ups China Game with $1 Million Donation for Flood Relief Apple donated these funds to the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation to help with relief efforts in south China, which has been racked with flooding on the Yangtze. (7/12/16)

- NEONATAL UNIT AT CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL LOS ANGELES RECEIVES $3 MILLION DONATION Steven and Alexandra Cohen donated $3 million to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in support of the hospital’s neonatal unit. Launched in 2001, the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation has provided more than $151 million to organizations across the nation that provide health services and education for children. (7/7/16)

- $1 million donation to UCCS art gallery will fund new programs The Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation has donated $1 million to the Galleries of Contemporary Art at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. - $1.25 Million Donation Sparks University Laboratory High School Renovations This anonymous gift will be used by the school to undertake renovations on its properties which are literally falling apart. University Laboratory High School is a school for grades 9 - 12 situated on the University of Illinois Urbana campus. (7/7/16)
