University to Remove Roger Ailes’ Name, Return Donation Good. Values alignment matters. Ohio University is returning the $500,000 gift and removing his name. (9/13/16)
Georgetown Slave Descendants Propose $1 Billion Foundation For those of you new to this story, Jesuits sold slaves to raise money to build Georgetown University. Following months of public discussion of how the university should make amends for benefiting from slavery, Georgetown President John DeGioia announced that it will apologize for its role in the trade, give admissions preferences to descendants and name two campus buildings in honor of the slaves. The descendants have some additional ideas. (9/9/16)

Premier Brad Wall's government is using this idea to build a fund (funded by private contributions) that supports various agencies to work towards social targets. USC's school of social work receives $60 million, the largest donation to a school of its kind This gift is from an internationally recognized leader in social work and a USC alumna, Suzanne Dworak-Peck. According to USC, this is the largest gift by an individual to a school of social work. The University of Southern California is a private university in Los Angeles. (9/14/16)
Former UFC co-owners make massive donation to UNLV athletics Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta sold their stake in UFC and have donated some of their proceeds, $10 million, to the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. The gift will be used to help build a new indoor football practice facility. (9/13/16)
$1M donation to LaHave River cleanup is 'legacy investment' A lovely act of care for the community. This is an anonymous gift from a Lunenburg County resident. Foundation gives $1 million to support Calgary affordable housing initiative The Z Zurich Foundation, the charity arm of the Zurich insurance company, gifted the money Monday to Calgary's RESOLVE Campaign. Jupiter Medical Center welcomes its largest donation ever $50 million. That's a very big anonymous gift. Jupiter Medical Center is located Jupiter, Florida. The gift will be used to build a comprehensive cancer institute. (9/13/16)
Food bank gets a $3 million donation The Good Shepherd Food Bank has been awarded a $3 million donation from the Finance Authority of Maine. The Good Shepherd Food Bank is located in Auburn, Maine. (9/12/16)
Pentagon Memorial Fund Receives $2.5 Million Donation to Build Visitor Education Center Announced among the many ceremonies honouring the 15th anniversary of 9/11, the Diana Davis Spencer Foundation made this gift to catalyze this project. (9/8/16)
Vanderbilt's Owen School lands $1.5M donation The gift is from alumni and married couple Carolyn Long (a retired banking industry official) and Jack Long (the CEO and co-founder of School Admin LLC). The Longs both earned their Master of Business Administration degrees at Vanderbilt in 1983. The funds will be used to extend the programs and coursework developed through the Owen School’s Center for Entrepreneurship. Vanderbilt University is a private university in Nashville, Tennessee. Foundations Pledge $20 Million to ‘Reimagine’ City Spaces We need this. Four major grant makers committed $20 million to boost revitalization efforts in four cities by transforming neglected sites into vital neighborhood assets. The four foundations are the JPB Foundation, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Kresge Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation. The four cities are Akron, Memphis, Chicago, and Detroit. (9/9/16)

Assiniboine Park receives $2.5 m donation This gift from the Richardson family is part of the park's $200 million redevelopment campaign. Missouri football receives $10 million donation from anonymous group Nice! The Kansas City Sports Trust has donated $10 million to Missouri University for building and advancing football facilities. The trust, an anonymous group of donors, has a history of generous donations to MU athletics. In the past 12 years, the trust has donated about $50 million. (9/8/16)
