  • This ER doc responds to critical calls in B.C. in his spare time. For free (CBC) BRITISH COLUMBIA STORY #ThisManIsASaint "When immediate threat-to-life calls come in, he hops in his orange Chevrolet Tahoe outfitted with about $200,000 worth of equipment funded by the community and grants. Firefighters say having him in the Kootenays with his gear and abilities — which include administering certain medicines on scene that paramedics can't — benefits patients."

  • 5-seat sushi counter in Vancouver earns Michelin star (CBC) VANCOUVER STORY #SuperCongrats "Sushi Masuda was the only new restaurant in the city to receive the distinction at an annual ceremony [...] the third such event since the culinary kingmaker started issuing its famously elusive stars on Canada's West Coast.   • 'Diva' beaver, beloved since birth, allowed to stay at U.S. rescue centre (CBC) #YayNibi "For some time, there was a question of whether a two-year-old beaver would be allowed to stay with the rescuers she has known since she was a baby, or be released into the wild. That question was resolved [...] when the governor of Massachusetts stepped in to protect the beaver — named Nibi."
