SOME GOOD NEWS

  • Woman, 79, fell while hiking. A stranger carried her for hours on his back (Detroit News) #Heroes "Bannister arrived at the trail around 11 a.m. and made her way to the lookout. As she headed back down, she made a misstep, and her foot got caught on a hole in the ground. She fell forward. 'By the time I sat up, my foot was pointing the wrong way. I knew right away I had broken my leg,' she said [...] But two young men at the lookout came over to see what was going on. When they saw Bannister on the ground in agony, they immediately made an offer: They could carry Bannister to the bottom of the trail."

  • ‘I’m motivated by the puzzle’: how Courtney Dauwalter became ultrarunning’s GOAT (The Guardian) #HaTakeThatTrainingPlans She is very inspiring. "Dauwalter does not have a coach or a strict training plan. She’s never been on Strava and doesn’t plan races far ahead of time. She runs in long shorts and baggy clothes because, she says, they are more comfortable. She eats candy while training and drinks beer afterwards, because that’s what makes her the most happy."

  • Moms nationwide are leaving gift cards in diaper boxes. Here’s why. (MSN) This gets me right in the feels. "Moms across the country are anonymously buying gift cards or leaving cash in baby items at Target and Walmart stores because Denaesha Gonzalez saw a misplaced purse. The Nashville mom was with her 2-year-old son in her local Target this month when she noticed a familiar sight — a silver clutch handbag that retails for $20 misplaced on the shelf of the baby aisle. To the 28-year-old, this meant something deeper: A mom with a young child sacrificed something she wanted to buy something for her baby."
